G Suite becomes Google Workspace

Google recently announced that they are transitioning from G Suite to Google Workspace in order to support its customers more efficiently during the lockdown period.
As a matter of fact, the world of work has undergone several changes, both economically and in terms of managing human interactions within the workplace during these difficult times related to Covid-19.
On one hand, several companies have chosen to suspend their activities completely. On the other hand, several others have chosen to continue their work by taking into account the precautionary measures dictated to guarantee the health and safety of staff members.
With that said, they chose remote working, so they set up teleworking and managed to take advantage of the Internet to maintain their business. Google was therefore one of the biggest escorts during the lockdown period.

In the coming months, you will have the opportunity to create new groups with guest members, share your documents directly on those groups and collaborate on the same document in the same chat group.

In addition, you will have the option of having an overview of the links in your Docs, sheets or Slides documents without opening a new tab. This allows you to waste less time, stay focused and saves you the trouble of having to navigate between your tabs.

That being said, another new tool that has to do with the mentions you add to your documents has been added. Now, when you @mention people on your documents, a contact details sheet, containing all the information you may need, will appear automatically.

You will even be able to add these contacts simply from the displayed card. All these benefits were added in order to guarantee efficient work where you save the maximum time.

A new tool that Google is considering adding to Google Workspace is the picture-in-picture that it wants to add to the Docs, Sheets, and Slides apps in addition to Gmail and Chat to which the option has been added recently. This will allow you to see and hear your clients and colleagues as you work together on the same document.

A new identity

The change from “G suite” to “Google Workspace” and the new tools are not the only change that Google is implementing.

In fact, as you may have noticed, each Google app has its own colors. But today, Google aims to unify its products, as well as unify their colors and implement a new design that accurately reflects the purpose of Google Workspace.

In the upcoming weeks, you will see color consistency between all the logos of the various Google Workspace applications (Gmail, Drive, Calendar, Meet, Docs, Sheets and Slides).
