What is a Cloud Server?
A cloud server hosts websites and applications in a configurable virtual environment. Size CPU, memory and storage for your workload, then check the offer’s upgrade options.
Plan monitoring, backups and administration responsibilities from the start. These matter as much as resources when operating an application.
Your questions, answered
How do I size my server?
Assess memory usage, simultaneous processing, data size and network requirements. Visitor count alone is not enough: a cached website and a computation-heavy application have different needs.
Is a control panel included?
Review the configuration and checkout options. A panel such as cPanel/WHM may need a separate licence. Check operating system compatibility and resource requirements before ordering.
Who administers the system and applications?
Check the administration scope of the offer. Updates, firewall rules, accounts and application monitoring need a clear owner in your team or an agreed administration service.
How should I plan server backups?
Define the data, frequency and retention needed. Check what is included in the configuration and test a restore. A copy separate from the server better protects against deletion or an incident affecting the instance.
Can I migrate without changing my domain name?
Yes. Prepare files, databases and settings, test the application on the new server, then plan necessary DNS changes. Preserve the old environment while checking the transition.
What should I check before moving my application to this server?
Prepare operating system and software versions, data volumes, access details and an independent backup. Check licences and the administration scope included in the offer before deploying.
